High security Chain link anti-climb fencing system for oil and gas services project

High security Chain link anti-climb fencing system for oil and gas services project

Location:Coastal Refinery- Southeast Asia

Project Scale: 4,800 m boundary fence + 16 sets of access gates

Solution:

2.4 m high hot-dip galvanized heavy-duty chain link, wire 3.8 mm;

Equipped with electronic perimeter alarm system.

Feature: Resist sea salt spray and industrial chemical vapor.

Result: Unauthorized access reduced by 90%; fully meets local petrochemical safety regulations.

They require perimeter fencing with good structural strength, corrosion resistance, anti-intrusion, anti-climb and explosion-proof safety.

Security chain link fence (diamond mesh fence) is widely adopted for oil projects due to its flexible structure, high impact resistance, low cost and easy maintenance.

It acts as physical isolation to prevent unauthorized personnel, vehicles and wild animals from entering restricted zones, and protects production equipment, oil tanks and pipelines.

2. Product Technical Specifications (Oil & Gas Grade)

2.1 Standard Chain Link Mesh

Mesh opening: 50×50 mm / 60×60 mm / 75×75 mm (most common: 50×50 mm for high security)

Wire diameter: 2.8 mm ~ 4.0 mm

General area: 2.8–3.0 mm

High-risk tank farm / restricted zone: 3.5–4.0 mm (heavy duty)

Standard panel height: 1.8 m / 2.0 m / 2.4 m / 2.8 m

Edge type: Knuckle edge (safe, no sharp points) / Barbed edge (enhanced anti-climb)

2.2 Surface Treatment (Core for Anti-Corrosion)

Oil projects are often located in desert, coastal, saline-alkali or humid industrial environments. Anti-rust treatment is mandatory:

Hot-dip galvanized

Zinc coating ≥ 70 μm, excellent resistance to salt, alkali and industrial fumes; service life 15–20 years.

Galvanized + PVC coated

Inner galvanized layer + outer PVC layer (1.0–1.2 mm thickness), available in green, black, grey. Anti-UV, anti-corrosion, anti-chemical erosion; service life over 20 years.

Galfan coated

Zinc-aluminum alloy coating, for harsh desert and offshore oil facilities.

2.3 Supporting Posts & Accessories

Posts: Round steel post / square steel post, hot-dip galvanized; diameter/section: 48 mm / 60 mm / 80 mm. Spacing: 2.0 m ~ 2.5 m.

Reinforcement: Top & bottom tension wire, middle horizontal brace to prevent mesh sagging.

Anti-climb accessories: Concertina razor wire, barbed wire, anti-climb brackets (installed on top for high-security zones).

Gates: Swing gate, sliding gate (vehicle access) + pedestrian gate, matched with access control & lock sets.

Extra fittings: Anti-climb bolts, tension bands, post caps, warning plates.

3. Key Advantages for Oil Projects

Strong impact resistance

Flexible diamond mesh absorbs impact, not easy to deform when hit by equipment or vehicles.

Superior corrosion resistance

Professional anti-rust coating adapts to desert, coastal, saline and chemical industrial environments.

Good ventilation & fire safety

Full mesh structure allows air circulation, avoids gas accumulation; compliant with petrochemical fire prevention codes.

High visibility

Clear view for patrol and CCTV monitoring around tanks and production areas.

Easy installation & repair

Lightweight material, suitable for large-area laying and complex terrain; damaged parts can be replaced separately.

Cost-effective

Lower material and construction cost compared with 358 mesh and palisade fence, ideal for long-distance perimeter.

Safety design

Smooth knuckle edges prevent scratches and injuries to staff and equipment.

4. Enhanced Security Solutions (For High-Risk Zones)

For tank farms, refineries and core production areas, upgrade standard chain link fence into multi-defense system:

Basic fence + top razor wire / barbed wire (anti-climb & anti-trespass)

Add vibration sensors / infrared alarm along the fence linkage with CCTV

Install anti-vehicle bollards at gateways to block illegal vehicles

Use heavier gauge wire and reinforced posts for anti-cut and anti-damage
